“Many hands make light work” is an African Proverb that speaks to the need for your participation in meeting our goal of establishing a Member-Owned Cooperative in our community!  “If Everyone does a little no One has to do a lot”. We can go on but the message is clear. “If many people cooperate, work that would have otherwise been very heavy for one person becomes light to each participant because each of them does only a part of it.” Thank you for doing your part!

Volunteer Work Opportunities – Members are required to volunteer their help (sign-up) for a Work Opportunity every other month, (i.e. work April, off May, work, June, off July and so on).  Sign-ups are available at request and when picking up your produce.

  • Transportation (5:30am – 7:30am).  A vehicle (van or pick up) is required (male Members).  Transporting purchased produce from suppliers to bagging site.  Includes loading and unloading of produce cases.
  • Bagging Event Coordinator (7:30am – 10:00am). – Knowledge of the bagging process and previous experience bagging at Produce Events.
  • Site Preparation (7:30am – 8:00am).
    • Set up tables, Fruit and Veggie bags, and lay out all necessary supplies for Bagging.
  • Bagging (8:00am – 10:00am). If you’ve been here for this Work Opp, you know how extensive and exciting it is!  See you there.
  • Produce Bags Pick-Up (10:00am – 3:00pm).  This Work Opp is divided into 90 minute shifts for the first 3 shifts and a 30 minutes shift for the last shift as it includes clean-up.  This Work Opp ensures everyone on the list to receive Produce Bags, receives them.
    • 10:00am – 11:30am
    • 11:30am – 1:00pm
    • 1:00pm – 2:30pm
    • 2:30pm – 3:00pm (includes site clean-up)
  • Vehicle Assistance (10:00am – 3:00pm). We would like to appeal to our male Members on this one.  It requires some muscle lifting and carrying those heavy bags to the cars for our grateful female Members.  Shift times coincide with Produce Pick up shifts.
    • 10:00am – 11:30am
    • 11:30am – 1:00pm
    • 1:00pm – 2:30pm
    • 2:30pm – 3:00pm (includes site clean-up)
  • Work Opps Sign-up (10:00am – 3:00pm).  Record requested Work Opps during Produce Pick up.

    • 10:00am – 11:30am
    • 11:30am – 1:00pm
    • 1:00pm – 2:30pm
    • 2:30pm – 3:00pm (includes site clean-up)
  • Refuse Disposal (11:00am). – Removal from bagging site and proper disposal of all debris; unused boxes, food scraps, and any garbage generated from the assembly and distribution of the Produce Bags.
