In October 2007, a small group knows as “The Ministry of Agriculture Oakland”, met and discussed plans to begin a Buying Club in their community and Your Market Produce was born. Motivated by the blueprint of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad wherein he states “Recognize the necessity for unity and group operations (activities)“, “Pool your resources, physically as well as financially.“
After working together collectively for nearly a year to provide fresh produce and grains for family and friends, Your Market Produce took an 8 month hiatus. Determined to see the establishment of a “Member-Owned Cooperative” in their community and committed to the timely Message by The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in February 2009, “Accepting Responsibility to Build Our Community” Your Market Produce was reorganized and on May 16, 2009 the first “Buying Club Event” took place!
